Okay let’s go back to female anatomy 101: People often use the term ‘vagina’ to refer to the entire female genital region between the legs — but this is incorrect.
To put it simply … your vulva is the external parts of the female genitalia (including all the visible parts of the female reproductive organs - like the clitoris, labia minora, majora and the opening of the urethra). Your vagina is the internal muscular canal that connects the vulva to the cervix with the only visible part being the vaginal opening. To put it even more simply, if it’s on the outside, it’s your vulva; if it’s on the inside, it’s your vagina.
When it comes to intimate care, it’s the delicate skin of your vulva that we are referring to, not your vagina. As I am sure you’ve already heard before … that part of your body is self-cleaning.
The skin on your vulva is more sensitive (and thinner) than other parts of the body and is responsive to change throughout different hormonal phases. Whether it be throughout your menstrual cycle, pregnancy, menopause, waxing/laser regime or simply the aging process, the delicate skin on your vulva can experience many different conditions. Some of the most common conditions experienced could include irritation, dryness, thinning, discolouration and, of course, the pesky ingrown hair.
Keeping your vulva healthy with our intimate wellness range helps to combat odour-causing bacteria whilst aiding to produce a more resilient surface area. We are here to assist with the prevention of ingrown hairs, to aid hydration, skin elasticity and the overall beautifying of your precious lady bits.
Fig Femme is designed to nourish and support the health of your vulva, not mess with the sciency stuff, which makes us function as healthy women.
A normal vaginal pH level sits between 3.8 and 4.5, which is moderately acidic (keeping in mind, what constitutes a “normal” pH level can vary slightly, based on your age and hormone levels).
So why does vaginal pH matter when it comes to our product formulations? Well … an acidic vaginal environment is protective. It creates a barrier that prevents unhealthy bacteria and yeast from multiplying too quickly and causing infection. It’s important for us to recognise the incredible work our lady bits do to regulate itself and Fig Femme is deigned to support, not hinder, these levels.
You might also note that we claim our formulation is specifically designed for the vulva, NOT the vagina. Therefore the pH is a little different as it is designed to sit on the skin’s surface for 15‑20 minutes, unlike a wash that is diluted with water and quickly rinsed away.
Of course! Whether you are au naturel, bare, experimenting with hairstyles or are even bejewelled – Fig Femme does not discriminate.
Just keep in mind results may vary due to different hairstyles and thickness.
Yes! It may even help with vaginal dryness that comes with menopause.
Fig Femme can be used as part of your ongoing self-care routine to assist with various skin concerns, all whilst supporting a healthy pH balance. With key ingredients such as Rosa Damascena Flower Water, proven to increase elasticity; Glycerin, to help with hydration; and Lactobacillus Ferment (a non-living probiotic), to help the skin’s microbiome, Fig Femme products aim to strengthen the skin’s ability to defend itself from aggressors (goodbye pesky irritation), whilst doubling up as your go-to, all-rounder vulva mask.
Fig Femme is designed in Australia by our female-led team and the Restore Mask is made in Taiwan.
